Kensington Oval

Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados was redeveloped in 2005-06 by World Cup Barbados in preparation for World Cup Cricket 2007. Kensington Oval was one of the venues for Warm-up Matches, Super Eight Matches and the venue for the World Cup Finals

The refurbishment of Kensington Oval consisted of the demolition of all but two stands, the construction of new stands, the laying of a new outfield and pitches along with the installation of new infrastructure to support the upgraded facilities.

Tony Brooks Architects Ltd. was the project architects for all but one of the stands associated with this project. These included the Player’s Pavilion named in honour of national hero His Excellency Sir Garfield Sobers, the Hall and Griffith Stand, the Greenidge and Haynes Stand, the Mitchie Hewitt Stand and the Peter Short Media Centre. All stands were developed in sympathy with the concept proposals contained in the Bid Documents for the games.
