Empire Theatre

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Empire Theatre was erected in the 1920’s as the premier venue in the island for the performing arts. It was converted for use as a cinema during the middle of the century and remained in that use until the decade of the 70’s. Since its closure, it has fallen into incredible disrepair. This proposal, sponsored by the Government of Barbados, sought to convert the venue into an international quality performing space inclusive of an 800 seat auditorium, stage with fly tower, orchestra pit, rehearsal studios, and lounges along with the associated control areas, stage and changing facilities. It was recently abandoned in favour of a micro brewery.
